Day 9: Back training

After a really nice weekend sporting both a trip to the Phuket Aquarium and the most amazing snorkling trip on Sunday, we were back to the training which was very nice. My back got really sunburned on the snorkling trip, why would I think snorkling for a full day in Thailand without sunblock is a good idea. Luckily our training keeps me out of the sun.

Yesterday was another full day of Muay Thai training, I think I make good progress, and in the end of the day I realized something truely amazing, I was able to grab both heels with my legs straight and put together. A week ago I could not touch my feet.

This morning I went for another session of Krabi Krabong (Sword and Staff), which is a nice change of pace. There is something about the instructor that makes me think he turn anything into a deadly weapon, real ninja style. I think all of our instructor has been or are great Muay Thai fighters, but this guy is really special.
Unfortunately he is the only instructor around for this class and as new students keep showing up the class isn't progressing as fast as I would like. It's still good and you'll never know when that sword training will come handy.

The afternoon, another Muay Thai session finished by a running trip in the pouring rain, there's somthing really authentic about running only in shorts in the rain as a part of Muay Thai training.

Tomorrow, I plan to give MMA (Mixed Martial Arts) a shot, looks like a lot of close contact with sweaty guys, hmmm.

Total pushups: 2200
Total situps: 3300
